The Path to Success in Kidney Transplantation
Our Mission
Our primary mission is to help patients achieve a successful kidney transplant and to
ensure long-term health through an effective follow-up program after the procedure.
We especially support incompatible couples who cannot undergo transplantation due
to ABO blood group mismatch or the presence of HLA antibodies in their donors,
which increases the risk of rejection.
For a small number of patients with low levels of anti-A or anti-B isoagglutinins, ABO-
incompatible transplantation may be a viable option. However, for most incompatible
couples, the most effective solution is paired donation. To increase the chances of
finding a suitable match, we have implemented an international paired donor list that
includes patients from various countries.
Our Follow-Up Program
Post-transplant follow-up is critical to the success of the treatment. Our program
includes:
Patient education and adherence to updated guidelines
Routine laboratory screenings
BK virus testing, advanced imaging, and radiological interventions
Kidney biopsies and detailed pathological assessments
Patients can access our program from their home countries and update us on their
condition either online or by visiting our clinic. In cases of increased creatinine or
protein levels in urine, we offer comprehensive evaluations in Istanbul. Currently, our
portfolio includes over 1,500 transplant patients, and any patient from any country
may request a second-opinion consultation.
Innovative Approaches
Thanks to the training and vision I received at Ohio State University, I have
introduced several pioneering techniques in Turkey and the region:
Laparoscopic donor nephrectomy
Retroperitoneoscopic donor nephrectomy
Robotic retroperitoneoscopic donor nephrectomy
ABO-incompatible kidney transplantation
Paired donation program using computerized systems
These innovations represent significant milestones in the field of kidney
transplantation.
International Training and Collaboration
We prioritize training healthcare professionals from Turkey and around the world.
Institutions we have collaborated with include:
Bezmialem University
Medeniyet University
Malatya University
Şişli Etfal Hospital
Hygeia Hospital (Albania)
Military Hospital (Jordan)
Azerbaijan Medical University (Baku)
Mediclinic Hospital (Dubai)
One of our proudest achievements was performing the first kidney transplant in
Senegal after training two nephrologists and surgeons from the country.
